Good Luck!

This last weekend was an odd one. Odd because I was not at work. Odd because I caught up on some sleep. Odd because I got to do some of the things work has been impeding lately - go out for dinner (twice!), take in a movie (Pride and Glory with Ed Norton and Colin Farrell - a tight, intricate police drama with complex characters and entwined situations where even doing the right thing came with a cost), and do some shopping for my 'cheap' table construction project.

The part that made it lucky was losing my cellphone Friday at WalMart and recovering it Saturday at their lost and found. Phew! That was close. It isn't like I have all that contact info backed up (no easy method). And it is my only phone line, so it rendered me hors de communication for about a day. Glad to have it back. My thanks to the nameless person who turned it in. The world is full of decent people.

I also saw my friend Robert and saw his newborn Jack for the first time. Little Jack is cute and Robert is headed off to Kandahar for a tour with the HQ over there. The new baby puts a whole new perspective on deployment into an active combat zone. The kind of sacrifice and courage our soldiers display always amazes me.
