The namesake of this wonderful tool would be proud. This one device has contributed more to astronomy and cosmology than many other tools. This same humble tool has battled the rigors of space for nearly two decades, come back from the dead several times, and has given us so many striking images of space and, in effect with its looking back into the early days of the universe, of time. I can't help but think those images have helped to fire a few imaginations and remind people that space exploration matters and that the universe truly is a wonderous place.

Its latest product is this amazing image of two galaxies that had once collided. The ring shape of the one on the right shows where the other drove through it. This is the stuff of the heavens.
