Quantum of Solace: A-

Daniel Craig plays Bond again, making possibly one of the best bond films out there. If you like the swanky the smooth socialite Bond who designs to shoot bad guys between drinks, then this might be less your bag. But if you like the tough, hard, ruthless and relentless agent who gets mussed up while burying the enemies of Her Majesty, then this movie you will enjoy.

The villain was a bit wimpier than most in this one, but the portrayal of Bond himself as a man hiding his inner pain and taking it out under the guise of following 'his duty' on anyone who gives him cause is interesting and well handled by Craig. Quantum's Bond is a lethal, angry Bond. He also gets banged up in fights and the chase and fight imagery is frenetic, reminding me of the Bourne movies. And this movie once again proves that being in shape is a major characteristics of the double-ought agent.

Bond's Polish co-star is a smoking hot young lady and a decent actress to boot. She does a good job of holding her character up strongly even when played off against Bond. Her character is interesting and she carries it off pretty well.

The best part of the movie is probably Bond's interplay with Judi Dench (M) and Jeffrey Wright, aka Felix Lighter (CIA). Dench gives her hallmark powerful performance, pulling no punches but having a concern for Bond despite the challenges he drops in her lap. Lighter's character interplay is subtler but underscores the deeper relationship between Bond and Lighter.
